“Discover the Science Behind the Art “

Learn the essentials of dance anatomy and physiology with a focus on safe practice. Explore how the body works in relation to movement, performance and teaching. This course builds a strong foundation to support healthy training, empowering dancers and educators to achieve optimal performance.

Music Knowledge for Dancers
with Annette Migliuiri B.MUS,ARCT

“When Dancers understand Music Movement Becomes Art”

Dates: Dec 6 and 13th

Time: 3:00 to 6:00pm​​

Explore the foundations of musicality and artistry in dance. Learn how to listen deeply to music, respond to rhythm, and use movement as a form of expression.

​

Taught by a professional pianist with over 30 years of experience accompanying for ballet classes she will guide participants through practical exercises focusing building sensitivity to musical qualities, enhancing performance and artistry and strengthening communication skills when working with live accompaniment.

Introduction to Benesh Notation 
with Janet Gittens RAD RTS, Teaching Diploma

Dates: January 10th

Time: 3:00 to 6:00pm​

Unlock the language of dance through Benesh Movement Notation! This beginner-friendly course introduces students to the fundamentals of Benesh notation, the internationally recognized system for recording and reading dance movements. Participants will learn to read and interpret symbols, notate simple movements, and understand the structure of choreographic scores. No prior notation experience is required—just curiosity and a love of movement!

Lifespan Development 
with Stephanie Tong MCS-MFT, BA -ECE and Organizational Leadership

Dates: Feb 28th and March 7th

Time: 3:00 to 6:00pm​

Every dancer is unique — and every stage of life brings something different to the dance studio. This unit explores how people grow and change physically, emotionally, and socially, and what that means for learning dance. You’ll gain insight into supporting dancers of all ages and abilities, creating an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.

 

Workshop participants will learn to adapt dance teaching for all ages and backgrounds by understanding development, learning needs, and motor skills.

Character Dance Essentials

This course is designed to equip dance teachers with the knowledge and tools to teach character dance with confidence. Focusing on the Polish, Russian, Hungarian and Ukrainian styles - explore the unique qualities, movement vocabulary, costumes and performance nuances of each nationality.
